Rototilt at Plantworx 2017: a Great Outdoor Exhibition Experience

  |   Exhibition News

Our talent for creating imaginative and exciting exhibition stands is not limited to indoor exhibitions; we’re also fully equipped to create amazing outdoor exhibition stands as well. Our recent investment in a number of high quality modular marquee systems, accessories and a levelling modular floor system, means we can also create fabulous stands for outdoor events as well.

That’s just what Rototilt – one of our newest clients – were looking for when the approached us to design something for their outdoor exhibition space at the recent Plantworx 2017 exhibition (http://www.plantworx.co.uk).
Established in Sweden in 1986, Rototilt (www.rototilt.com/en-GB/) has become the world’s leading manufacturer of safe and effective tiltrotators. Yeah, we wondered what a tiltrotator is too. Apparently, it’s a hydraulic attachment that goes on an excavator to allow the excavator’s bucket to rotate through 360o, increasing its accuracy and precision.

So, knowing that Rototilt is a big name in the construction and earthworks industry, it makes sense that they’d want to exhibit at Plantworx. This is the UK’s largest working construction equipment exhibition. Over three days in June almost 400 exhibitors attend this outdoor event to showcase and demonstrate their latest construction equipment to a huge audience of industry professionals.

Plantworx demands an amazing venue

To stage such a huge and prestigious event you need a pretty special venue. Plantworx doesn’t disappoint. It’s held at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground; the largest privately owned vehicle test track facility in the UK. Situated eleven miles south of Leicester, the Bruntingthorpe site was originally a World War II airfield and remained an RAF and USAF facility until 1972.

Now in private ownership, Bruntingthorpe offers a wide range of facilities and services for the automotive, defence, construction and aviation sectors. This huge and flexible site is used for vehicle test and development, vehicle storage, vehicle refurbishment and events, including corporate hospitality. Its comprehensive facilities and varied landscapes also mean that Bruntingthorpe is a popular location for film and TV shoots; both Top Gear and parts of the movie Mission Impossible were filmed here.

Our impressive exhibition stand for Rototilt

Rototilt came to us with a basic idea of the exhibition stand concept they wanted for Plantworx and we worked with them to develop their ideas, identifying the use of one of our versatile modular marquee systems as the best solution to meet their needs.

The stand design was based around a 6.0m x 6.0m marquee, created using two of our 3.0m x 6m marquee modules. The 6.0m x 6.0m structure was divided into two halves using modular glass walling and double glass doors. The inside area was then decorated with an internal exhibition system featuring printed infill panels to create a small store, coffee station and, more importantly shelter from the British weather!

The entire marquee structure was built on top of a 100mm platform. This consisted of a carpeted area inside the enclosed portion of the marquee, and grey painted decking on the external hospitality area and access paths. Rather than using our adjustable flooring system we opted for a traditional joist solution, fixing plywood panels in the carpeted area and decking direct to the joist for the remaining external area. Using a combination of packers and specialist adjustable feet we were able to provide a very flat and stable floor area.

Rototilt had also booked additional stand space at Plantworx to provide an area where they could demonstrate their equipment. To maximise the visual impact of both their main marquee and this demonstration space we installed branded crowd-control barriers, our modular lighting gantry system ( see www.lightinggantry.co.uk for more information), and printed PVC mesh. Mesh is the perfect solution for outdoor exhibitions as it can cope with windy conditions. Our gantry system is used on many projects throughout the year including indoor and outdoor exhibition stands, and also for starting and finishing point gantries at high profile events such as the Reading Half Marathon and, more recently, Nottingham’s Robin Hood Half Marathon www.robinhoodhalfmarathon.co.uk

Comfort and hospitality: the finishing touches

It’s all very well to have a great-looking, high impact exhibition stand that attracts visitors, but it’s a good idea to make sure that they’ll want to stay and look around. To provide comfort and hospitality for Rototilt’s visitors we supplied, on hire, some of our lovely aluminium bistro style furniture and our amazing Nespresso CS220 Pro coffee machine (www.nespresso.com/pro/uk/en/product/gemini-220-coffee-machine). Popular with our clients, this machine makes the most wonderful cup of coffee and is perfect for making your clients feel welcome and appreciated.

The work we did for Rototilt at Plantworx this year is just one example of how we can handle outdoor exhibitions of all kinds. We love this kind of project and are always ready to help with the next one – whatever the weather!
